Jonathan's service is tomorrow morning, at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church of Leavenworth, Kansas. Calling hours start at 10, and there is a luncheon afterwards. We don't know how many people will be there, but we know that there are many more who will be with us in spirit.
Among them will be Jonathan.
We will tell him that we miss him already.

I read Kirianne's email on Sunday and I was devastated to hear the news. I really have no words for what I am feeling… my heart is just broken. I have so many wonderful memories of Jonathan and they are all flooding through my mind right now, happy snapshots of the time we spent together in high school, in the classes we shared, during lunch time in the cafeteria, and taking the 4 train home every day, talking about everything. Even after high school, we were periodically in touch and I always loved reading his letters and emails. He was my very best friend in the world during a seminal time in our lives and we had a very special relationship. He shaped a part of who I am, and the world is much poorer for his loss. I'm just so grateful that I got to know him at all and have him in my life, I will treasure those memories forever.
My family joins me in sending you and your family our deepest sympathy, I can't even imagine the pain you must be in.
God bless you and give you peace and strength.
Much love,
Peggy
Thank you, Peggy, for being such a very good friend to our son and brother.

Dearest Kiri, John and Marianne,
God bless you and keep you! I can't begin to imagine how this time is for you! I have memories of Jonathan that go back to when he was six, and, Kiri, you and he sang that "Love is Something if You Give it Away" song. Lots of memories of other times and places, but the lesson of that song is something that he and all of you have taught me and countless other people - "Love is something if you give it away, you end up having more."
With huge gratitude and much love for Jonathan and for you all,
Karen
Dear John, Marianne, and Kiri,
I didn't know Jonathan as long as Karen did, but I got to know him well enough to form a deep respect and affection for him. He had so many gifts, and aside from that, he was just a truly outstanding human being. I remember singing with him, playing music with him, and watching him grow and develop a great capacity for leadership. I truly share your loss, and wish I could take away even just the tiniest bit of your pain.
What a blessing it was to know him. I will always remember that.
May the good Lord strengthen your faith and console you, just as we have been promised.
In heartfelt prayer,
Charles
